I have been a responder for just over three years and typically cover around 8 hours per month as a responder.  I have been a trained first aider for many years, including 10 years active service with St. John Ambulance, and I was looking for an opportunity to use my skills and experience to benefit the Ely community.  The flexibility of being able to decide when you make yourself available, means I can fit in being a responder with everything else in my life.  Every call I attend as a responder is when somebody has dialled 999 and needs assistance – providing help before the Ambulance Service crews arrive makes a real difference.
